BEST TIME TO DIVE IN THE BAHAMAS
The Bahamas are a year-round diving destination. For shark lovers the months October to June are the highlights. Hurricane season takes places from June to October.
POPULAR DIVE SITES
The Exumas is by far the most beautiful island group of the Bahamas. It consists of around 350 islands and diving takes place in the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park which is a protected National Park that provides untouched underwater life. Another famous site is the Washing Machine, so-called because its crazy currents take divers from 4 meters and propel them through a narrow cut in the reef and release them eventually at 15 meters on a beautiful reef.
The Bahamas is one place in the world where divers can swim close to tiger sharks. The place is located on Grand Bahama and is called Tiger Beach. The shark population here is still healthy and this dive has been rated as one of the best 30-foot (9 m) dives in the world.
Other famous dive sites are Bimini with plenty of life underwater from big to small. The Crater on the island Andros, which is an oceanic blue hole. And the James Bond Wrecks in Nassau, that are also known as “Underwater Hollywood”.
