About Dive Into Ambon Resort

Dive Into Ambon is perfectly located in Baguala Bay. Dive Into Ambon the best and only diving resort in Ambon. Ambon (part of the legendary spice islands) is known as one of the best muck diving destinations on the planet, with a full range of macro critters, as good as anywhere in the world, and there are no crowds. As well as awesome macro diving in Ambon Bay there is also glorious coral, wall and wide-angle diving on the south coast. Pristine coral, no other dive boats, it’s a dream come true. We dive more dive sites than any other operator in Maluku. Dive Into Ambon is perfectly placed to take advantage of both types of diving. They dive both sides from the wonderful central location in Baguala Bay.

With Ambon in remote East Indonesia, the logistics for getting here are surprisingly simple. Recently many airlines have been changing their schedules. At the moment we highly recommend the Garuda flight GA646 from Jakarta to Ambon. It leaves Jakarta at 0815 and arrives in Ambon at 1355, plenty of time to relax and get things set up at the resort before diving the next day. And for returning to Jakarta, Garuda GA647 leaves Ambon at 1530, so you can do all three dives the day before. Garuda also give 23kg extra baggage allowance for dive gear (make sure you tell them at the airport) Transfers between the Resort and Ambon airport takes approximately 35 mins.

Ambon Island, nestled in the Maluku Archipelago, is fast being recognized as one of the premier critter (muck) diving locations in the world. Ambon Bay has an amazing variety of rare of wonderful creatures and very uncrowded sites. Lesser known is the south side of Ambon, which features great and colorful walls, caves, swim through, exceptionally healthy reef life, with large fish and more small critters.

DIVING OPERATIONS

The resort does day trips from our base at the resort, three dives a day. For diving Ambon Bay you take a short 10-minute bus ride to the private jetty at the base on Ambon Bay. From there you depart on the boats for a three-dive trip to the amazing muck sites. When the season is right (see below) for the southern and eastern sites, you depart from the resort, again for three dives. On a typical day, you depart from the resort at 8.15 am, returning around 4.30 pm. When all the sites are open they run one day of diving in Ambon Bay, followed by one day of the southern and eastern clear water sites, and then repeat, so you can enjoy everything Ambon has to offer. All boats have toilets, hot food, soft drinks, charging stations and freshwater. Kaj and Barb have designed everything the way they wanted to, to make sure that your stay is a comfortable and easy as possible.

DIVING SEASON

Ambon does have a diving season.

The resort ist closed in July and August every year, due to the South East Monsoon.

- September to mid-October: Muck Diving only

- mid-October to mid-May: Muck diving and all the clear water south and east coast sites

- mid-May to end of June: Muck Diving only
